#1 Sarasota Christian vs Gm 1 winner 7:00 PM
- Preview: District 1A-12 comes down realistically to two teams almost every year, although Out-of-Door Academy has made some strides this season, going 13-9 overall, but Sarasota Christian and Bradenton Christian still are the teams to beat. In fact, up until the last meeting between SCS and BCS, it was BCS alone that was the team to beat as they had won 15 straight versus the Blazers. But Sarasota Christian defeated Bradenton Christian 73-60 on January 24th and that may have been enough to propel the Blazers to taking this year's district title away from the Panthers and eventually get past them in the regional playoffs as well. Sarasota Christian had won 14 straight games up until this past Fridays' loss to Venice in the Suncoast Cup Final, including wins over Venice earlier in the week, North Port, and Seffner Christian. They have lots of size and are well coached by Phil Helmuth. Bradenton Christian though has the more recent history with winning district titles and advancing deep into the state tournament. Just last year they were lost by 10 in the semifinals to eventual state champion Orlando Christian Prep in the 1A Final Four in Lakeland. They play a tough schedule which included games against Clearwater, Orlando's First Academy, Berkeley Prep, to go along with playing all of the larger schools from around Bradenton. They routinely play a schedule, that even if they lose and lose big at times, prepares them to never be caught off guard by anything any 1A level team has to offer. If BCS can in fact get by Out-of-Door Academy, then Saturday night will be packed, crazy, and entertaining inside of Sarasota Christian School's small gymnasium.
