1st Team
Shaun Noriega, North Port HS (SG, 6-foot-4, 195, Sr.) **Signed to USF
Joel Vander Pol, Evan. Christian (F, 6-foot-11, 220, Sr.) **Signed to Liberty

Vander Pol was one of only two local players in the area

to sign so far, along with Noriega, when he signed with

Liberty University. He returns this season a couple inches

taller, stronger, just as skilled and maybe more focused.

His number one goal is to bring a district title to ECS after

a runner-up finish last season. He could also flirt with

potentially averaging a triple double is he is able to add a

couple more blocks to his 07-08' stats of 16 pts, 10.9 rebs,

Brennen used the offseason to add about 20-25 pounds of

muscle and improve on his ability to create for himself

and his teammates to possibly increase his output of 4.6

assists per game last season. With a lot of size lost for

Verot, he will need to use that strength to help out on the

glass. Although he led his team in scoring a season ago

with just over 12 pts per game, he will need to increase

that to make up a bit for the 24.4 pts per game they lost

with the graduation of their three big men.
Mark DuBois, Sarasota Christian (SF, 6-foot-6, 210, Sr.)

Paulk is known for knocking down deep threes in bunches

and giving opposing teams fits on the glass with his

athletic ability and size. The question will be whether he

has added more to his game entering what many scouts say

is the most important season for a high school athlete's

recruitment. He will benefit from having a guard like

Darius Perkins who will push him from a basketball

standpoint mentally and create more space for him due to

Perkins scoring ability. If he can put a strong season

together David could very well start seeing multiple mid

to high major college scholarship offers being thrown his
Matt Conway, Sarasota Riverview (F, 6-foot-6, 195, Sr.)

Conway joins a group at Riverview that he has played with

and been friends with since the third grade. He felt out of

place last year at Sarasota and even contemplated giving

up basketball altogether at one point due to frustration.

Now that he is in a system full of guards who will be able

to create space for him with their shooting ability, look for

Conway to catch a lot of folks by surprise. He can run,

really jump, shoot it, and plays tough on the interior on

both ends. He could be the piece the Rams needed to

push them over the hump to capturing another district
Mitch Woods, Community School of Naples (PG, 6-foot-4, 190, Jr.)

This was the hard one, choosing between the young

Perkins and senior John Skinner. In the end it came down

to who has the potential to take their team deeper into the

playoffs and we see Dunbar with more potential of doing

so this season. But Darius is the real deal. He can shoot

it, handle it, play tough on the ball defense, and is oozing

with upside due to his length and athleticism at such an

early age. He was the sixth man for a Monsignor Pace

team in 07-08' that captured the class 4A state title, and

that experience should prove invaluable when added to a

group of guys who were slept on all the way to the final

four a year ago. If Perkins can keep the Tigers focused on

basketball, as he is always personally, you could see a

team that has the potential to compete with the likes of

Brandon Knight, the #2 nationally rated prospect in the

class of 2010, and Pine Crest, who won the 3A title last
