Preview:
- We could not find a ton of information about Tampa Chamberlain but the thought here is that if the Tarpons can take care of their side of things, this game should be extremely winnable. Charlotte played a tough end of the season schedule to prepare them for the playoff run they're hoping to make and the journey started with a big win over Port Charlotte last week and is now in the third leg. They need to win 3 games to reach the Final Four for the first time and that has been their goal all season long. Many believe the real test for the Tarpons will come in the next round against Tampa Sickles, who defeated Chamberlain 56-28 in the 5A-9 District Final. However, Tarpon seniors Nick Goshay, Joey Degaeta, Jonny Ocasio, Dee Shine, Jake Foley, Kyle Midget, and Adam Moore will no doubt take this game just as serious as any. Goshay leads the way and is the key for Charlotte. The 6'4 forward has been playing tremendous basketball this season and is focused on going out with a bang. Degaeta and Shine have stepped up big on the offensive end as well, with Degaeta scoring in double figures regularly the past few weeks. Ocasio had a tough couple weeks heading into the district title game, but he came up big time with 22 points and 11 rebounds in the win. They will need to be balanced to offset the balance of Chamberlain, who has 4 guys averaging in double figures this season. They're led by 6'2 F/G Eric Storts who is a athletic workhorse that can put up numbers in bunches. Chiefs' senior guard Mike Julien does most of his damage from outside, and evident by his 42 treys made this season. The Chiefs' also rely on twin brother Reggie and Rod Hart both offensively and on the boards. The key to the game will most likely be whether the Tarpons can get Goshay going early, while also slowing down Storts for Chamberlain. If Charlotte can take care of business defensively and on the glass, they should be moving on to the Regional Semifinals.
