Preview:
  • This Regional Quarterfinal matchup should be an interesting one.  This will pit two athletic teams against one another that have very little familiarity with the other.  With the distance between them, and the lack of common opponents, it is tough for us and for the teams to guage how they stack up.  However, the decision will most likely come down to whether or not the Seminoles can use their pressure defense to create turnovers by the Tigers.  Southeast is led by a host of quick and athletic guards who are all viable threats on the offensive end.  Junior guard Reggie Smalls leads the Seminoles in scoring on the year, but Richards, Bacon, or Ray all have the ability to score in transition or shoot the ball from the outside as wel.   Senior forward Jonathon Dowling is not a traditional post player, but will look to stop Tigers' senior forward David Paulk inside.  Paulk has had an up and down year due to injuries, but he is hoping to be there for his team when it counts, hoping to get them back to the Final Four like during his sophomore year.  Dunbar senior guard duo of Troy Simmons and Joel German will be key in not only taking care of the ball against the defensive pressure, but are the Tiger's two leading scorers as well.  Simmons runs the team and will need to really focus on playing under control, while also looking to attack the basket if they can beat the press.  German is an athletic wing guard who can knock shots down in bunches from the outside or slash to the basket just the same.  Look for this one to go back and forth throughout and be a close one till the end.

Prediction:
  • Toss Up
