Preview:
  • Naples continues to win, and Fort Myers held on to knock off Golden Gate, setting up an interesting matchup in the semifinals.  Both schools play solid team focused basketball, however Naples is very reliant on senior guard Jordan Leach.  However, Naples' has gotten big outputs from Arie Myrmo, Felipe Vasquez, and Tyler Alderuccio throughout the season, keeping teams from being able to solely key on Leach.  Vasquez poured in 21 points in the quarterfinal win against Mariner.  Fort Myers is one of the most balanced teams around as well, however they play their best when the backcourt of Graham and McClendon are hitting on all cylinders.  The duo got into foul trouble against Golden Gate, which was key to not being able to steadily pull away from the Titans.  When Graham was able to get more aggressive in the 3rd quarter, driving and dishing to teammates like Matt Yance for open shots, the Green Wave went on a 17-3 run.  Yance knocked down 3 treys during the run, and led the Wave in scoring with 12 points, while also adding a team-high 12 rebounds.  Fort Myers will need to keep Graham and McClendon out of foul trouble though, because when they were off the court the team struggled mightily offensively, getting outscored 14-4 in the second quarter against the Titans.  This should be an interesting game.
Prediction:
  • Fort Myers (+6)
