Preview:
  • Charlotte comes into the Regional Semifinals following a close call against Tampa Chamberlain.  Sickles comes in off a win over Manatee where they did not score a ton but they still won by 12.  Taking a look at comparitive matchups between similar opponents, Sickles defeated Chamberlain 56-28 in the district title game whereas Charlotte only won by 8.  However, Charlotte and Sickles both defeated Manatee by the same margin, but Manatee was actually ahead in their game against Sickles as late as the 3rd quarter, so you can basically throw out predictions based on those facts.  When it comes down to it, Sickles has two guys who do the majority of the damage on the offensive end in Davis and Rembert.  If Charlotte can find a way to slow those two down, then it will be interesting to see if Sickles has anyone else who can step up offensively.  Charlotte comes in with more balance offensively, with Goshay usually getting his and senior Jonny Ocasio playing probably the best he has played all season right now.  Ocasio has been the team's leading scorer in the last 2 games, notching 20 plus points and double digit rebounds in the District final and then against Chamberlain.  To add to their balance, junior Alex Mut has thrived since coming back from a hand injury, and brings a lot of toughness and tenacity to the lineup.  The road to the Final Four definitely gets a lot tougher on Tuesday for the Tarpons, and as with all playoff runs, the important key will be how they step up defensively.

Prediction:
  • Toss Up
