Fowler White Boggs Banker Slam Dunk Championship
  • Winner: John Wall, Word of God (NC)
  • Recap: The 6'4" Wall defeated 6'10" Wally Judge (Arlington Country Day, signed to Kansas State) in the final that originally ended in a tie and came down to one extra attempt per dunker, with Wall finishing a between the legs jam that the judges found more appeasing that Judge's free throw line flush to take the crown .  In the qualifying round, Wall pulled off a dunk in which he jumped completely over a teammate and brought the crowd to their feet.  Mind you, Wall pulled this all off after telling a few teammates how dead tired his legs were prior to competing.  Judge represented the big guys well, as he showed that not all 6'10 plus dunkers are boring in their attempts.  He had the hops of a little guy, and if he hadn't had such a height advantage over Wall, his dunks may have been enough to impress the judges that much more.  Word of God's Bishop Daniels and Mater Dei's Collin Krahe were right on the finalists heels in the qualifying round as well.  Daniels was the smallest of the four and finished in third for points in qualifying.  Krahe was the first dunker to wooh the crowd a bit with his toss off the gym wall and completion of a two-hand jam.
