2009 City of Palms All-Tournament Team/Awards

Hans Loeser 3-point Shootout
- Winner: Trevor Lacey, Butler HS (Ala.)
- Recap: Lacey (6'3" WG, 2011) defeated Matt Yance (6'5", WG, 2011, Fort Myers HS) with a score of 16 in the final. Yance finished second with a score of 11 in the final round.
- Yance had 22 and Lacey had 17 in the qualifying round
Edison National Bank Slam Dunk Championship
- Winner: Josue Celestin, Fort Myers HS (FL)
- Recap: Fort Myers High School senior forward, 6-7 Josue Celestin, pulled off an upset he will be able to tell his kids about someday. Celestin took down nationally ranked, and possibly the most vertically athletic prospect in the country, Westchester of Los Angeles' Dwayne Polee, who is a former Univ. of Southern California commit. Celestin's winning dunk was a one-handed jam where he jumped from just inside the free throw line. Polee answered with a one-handed authoritative windmill jam that the crowd thought would win the contest, but when the judges only gave him a score of 42, compared to that of 45 for Celestin, Polee would have one more shot. On his final attempt Polee just missed a Michael Jordanesque "rock-the-cradle" with his head at rim level that would of certainly won the title, but on his next attempt he decided to use two hands and the judges didn't find it as impressive as the local representative's. The win gives Fort Myers HS the 2009 Dunk Champion and the 2008 3-point Shootout Champion, won by 2009 graduate John-Michael Hodge. Fort Myers junior Matt Yance also reached the final of this year's 3-point shootout and came up just short of making it a clean sweep for the Wave.
