Melvin Chosen as FACA District 16 Player of the Year

The District 16 Florida Athletic Coaches Association (FACA) got together this week to vote on multiple awards and to nominate local players from a four county area including Collier, Lee, Charlotte, and Hendry. The award was given out for the top senior in the coverage area which also meant a spot in the North-South All-Star game in Orlando after the season. Other awards were given out for the District 16 player and coach of the year in their respective class. And lastly two players were nominated to take part in the Unsigned Senior Showcase to be played in front of college coaches after the season. The award winners are listed below:
The Outstanding Senior in FACA District 16 regardless of class/North-South All Star Game Nominee:
**Points from voting in parentheses and not in bold
- 1st - Brennen Melvin, Bishop Verot (Currently averaging 15.8 ppg, 9.5 rpg, 4.5 apg) (28 points)
- Parker Ayers, Naples Lely (2 points)
***Voting was as such (coaches voted 1, 2, 3 for the top 3 players in the 4 counties and then gave reverse numerical value to each vote)
***Brennen Melvin will represent the South in the annual game in Orlando on April 18th.

Class 2A
- Player of the Year - Joel Vander Pol, Evangelical Christian School
- Coach of the Year - Greg Donahue, Community School of Naples (1st year Head Coach, Current Record 18-2 Overall, 10-0 District)
Class 3A
- Player of the Year - Brennen Melvin, Bishop Verot
- Coach of the Year - Matt Herting, Bishop Verot (Current Record 15-6 Overall, 3-0 District)
Class 4A
- Player of the Year - Parker Ayers, Naples Lely
- Coach of the Year - Tom Catanzarite, Lemon Bay (Current Record 15-8 Overall, 6-1 District)
Class 5A
- Player of the Year - Brian Landers, Naples Barron Collier
- Coach of the Year - Scott Guttery, Fort Myers (Current Record 14-7 Overall, 9-0 District)
