FGCU Team Camp Recap; Young Guys Highlight Competitive Weekend
6/22/10 - The Florida Gulf Coast University annual team camp has become a great place to get an early look at local teams as they prepare for next season with new crops of guys. Tampa Jesuit came down and was able to steal the show from the locals and headed back home with the varsity division championship trophy. However, the real story of the weekend was the play of a bunch of very talented young guys looking to cement themselves in the varsity rotations. One guy we were thoroughly impressed with was rising sophomore Davidson Neptune (pictured left) from Gulf Coast High School. The 6'2 athletic wing guard showcased a very good all-around game throughout the weekend. He was just one of many underclassmen to stand out, along with some upperclassmen that we touched on in our recap of when we were on hand on Saturday and Sunday.
Graham, Woods Garner First-Team All-State Honors; 9 Locals In All Selected
6/14/10 - Southwest Florida is well-represented on the 2009-2010 All-State boy’s basketball teams, which were compiled by Florida sports writers, and finally released on Friday.
In all, 9 players from Bradenton through Naples were selected, including Fort Myers junior Evin Graham (pictured top left) and Community School of Naples senior Mitch Woods (pictured bottom left) getting First-Team honors in 4A and 2A respectively. North Port junior Kasey Wilson (6A) and Fort Myers senior Terran McClendon (4A) were selected to the Second Team in their respective classifications. Charlotte senior Nick Goshay (5A) and Seacrest senior Brunes Charles (1A) made the Third Teams in their classes. Selected to the Fourth Team were Bradenton Christian seniors Jordan Negrin and Michael Frey (1A), as well as Barron Collier sophomore Deion Clark (4A).
Congratulations to all of the local guys who received the huge honor of being chosen as one of the state of Florida’s best this past season.

Neptune's play this weekend is a big reason he will be making a move towards the top of the class of 2013 rankings.
