Notes: Abu-Khadier is tweener type forward that has the ability to play inside but also step out and make some shots and plays from the wing. He does not quite have the quickness at this point to be a true wing, and is 2-3 inches short of being a true post. Ahmed does not allow that to stop his effectiveness on the local high school scene. During his junior year at Gateway Charter he averaged 21 points, 12 rebounds, and 2 blocks per game while notching 15 double-doubles. There is something to be said for a player who doesn't necessarily pass the "first look test" but just finds a way to be around the ball for rebounds and consistently put the ball in the bucket. He has a tenacity inside on the boards that allows him to get his hands on a lot of balls and keep them alive for his teammates or himself to corral the loose ball. Ahmed can also step out and shoot the ball pretty well from as far out as beyond the arc, and ocassionally put it on the deck and create his own opportunities to score. The main area still needing the most fine tuning is on the defensive end where he will need to quicker to guard the wings and both get stronger and gain some vertical athleticism in order defend inside against bigger players. However, Ahmed does have good body size weighing in at the end of his junior year at about 200 pounds.
