This past Friday the SFABC released their Boys Basketball All-Decade Team for their coverage area which includes Charlotte, Lee, and Collier Counties.  Players had to graduate from high school in 2001-2010.  Their entire high school career was taken into account.  The committee was made up of Ed O’Brien (Cypress Lake, Ft. Myers), Tom Massolio (Charlotte), Joe Consolino (Barron Collier, Golden Gate), and Dan DeLuca (Ft. Myers News-Press).  SFABC President, Matt Herting organized and oversaw the selection meeting.  Area coaches were allowed to nominate players, but the committee considered everyone whether nominated or not.  Players will be honored during the 2010-2011 season at an event yet to be determined.  Players are listed alphabetically. 

First Team
Reed Baker – Bishop Verot
2 Time SWFL Player of the Year, SFABC Mr. Basketball 2006, 1st Team All-State (2006) 3rd Team All-State (2005), BV All-Time Leading Scorer, Second BV All-Time Assists.  2005: 23.4 ppg, 4.5apg, 4 rpg, 2006: 22.5 ppg, 4.8 apg.  Two-time District Champ, Sweet 16, Elite 8.   3 year starter.  University of Michigan/FGCU

Robert Ferguson – Mariner
Second Team All Area in 2001, SWFL Player of the Year 2002 (21.4ppg, 15rpg, 69%fg), 2002 SFABC Mr. Basketball.  District Champ, Elite 8, 4 year starter.  Three-time District Champ, three Sweet 16’s and one Elite 8.  Led Mariner to 93 wins in his four years.  St. Joe’s University

Lance Kearse – Ft. Myers
1st Team All Area in 2006 (18ppg, 11rpg, 3spg, 2.7bpg).  SWFL Player of the Year 2007 (23.5ppg, 8.8rpg).  SFABC Mr. Basketball 2007.  1st Team All-State 2007.  2nd Team All-State 2006.  Two-time District Champ, two Sweet 16’s.  Three year starter.  VCU/Eckerd College

Robinsin Louisme – Ft. Myers
1st Team All Area in 2003 (13.2ppg, 12.8rpg).  SWFL Player of the Year 2004 (15.9ppg, 11.3rpg).  SFABC Mr. Basketball 2004.  2nd Team All-State 2003.  1st Team All-State 2004.  Three-time District Champ, Two Elite 8’s, Final 4.  Tulane

Dago Pena – Charlotte
2008 SFABC Mr. Basketball.  1,233 points, 413 rebounds, 177 assists.  2008 Charlotte Sun Player of the Year. SFABC Mr. Basketball.  1st Team All-State 2008.   3rd Team All-State 2007. Two-Time District Champ.  Two Elite 8’s.  Marshall

Second Team
Ryan Hornsby - Naples Lely
Lely  2004 SFABC Mr. Basketball.  Led team to #1 state ranking in 2004.  3 year starter.  Sweet 16

Brennen Melvin – Bishop Verot
1st Team All Area 2008 (12.4ppg, 4.6apg).  SWFL Player of the Year 2009 (16.5ppg, 9.5rpg, 4.5apg).  All-time BV leader in assists and rebounds.  SFABC Mr. Basketball 2009.  2nd Team All-State 2009.  3 District Champs, 2 Elite 8, Final 4.  3 year starter.  Fordham

Yavney Neptune – Pt Charlotte
1350 career points, 451 assists.  Second Team All-State, 2-time Charlotte Sun Player of the Year, District Champ, Elite 8.  4 year starter. SFABC Mr. Basketball Finalist.  FGCU

Brendan Rooney – Ft. Myers
2002 (15.5 ppg, 7 rpg).  2003 First Team All-State, SFABC Mr. Basketball Finalist, (16.7ppg).  Two time District Champ.  Final Four.  Four year starter. FGCU

Joey Woods – Golden Gate
1st Team All-Area 2006 (15.4ppg, 2.9apg).  SFABC Mr. Basketball Finalist.  1st Team All-Area 2007 (17.2ppg, 6.9apg, 4.3spg). 3rd Team All-State 2007.  2 time District Champ  Bethune Cookman

Third Team
Dwayne Jackson – Mariner
1st Team All Area 2002 (30ppg, 4.2rpg, 4.7apg).  Two-Time District Champ.  Three Sweet 16’s.  Three Year Starter.  SFABC Mr. Basketball Finalist.  Coastal Carolina

Larry McClinton – Cypress Lake
SWFL Player of the Year 2001 (17.1ppg, 9.8rpg, 6.1apg), 1st Team All Area 2002 (18.6ppg, 4.3rpg).  SFABC Mr. Basketball Finalist.  District Champ. Sweet 16.  Elite 8  Univ. of Tampa

Chris Stephenson – Charlotte
2007 Charlotte Sun Player of the Year.  2008 SFABC Mr. BB Finalist.  1,490 points, 640 rebounds, 243 assists, 201 steals.  SFABC Mr. Basketball Finalist.  Two-Time District Champ.  Two Elite 8’s.  UNC Asheville

J.D Woods – Golden Gate
Four Year starter.  2005 (11.7ppg, 4rpg), 2006 (14.3ppg, 6.6rpg), 2007 (19.2ppg, 7.1rpg), 2008 (23.7ppg, 7.3rpg).  Two-time District Champ.  West Virginia-FB

Mitch Woods – Community School of Naples
SFABC Mr. Basketball 2010 (18.2ppg, 5.9rpg, 5.6apg) .  1st Team All Area 2009 (17.9ppg, 6.3prg, 4.6apg).  CSN all time leader in rebounds, assists, and steals.  4 time District Champ.  4 Four Elite 8, Final 4.  Appalachian State
