11/3/08 ~ The Natioal Preseason Top 25 Polls were released on Monday by PrepNation.com with the #1 team hailing from Duncanville, Texas. What does this mean to the local hoops scene though? Well, #1 Duncanville along with #2 Mater Dei (CA), #3 Wheeler (GA), #4 Lincoln (NY), and #6 St. Patrick (NJ) will be in the field for The 36th Annual Bank of America City of Palms Classic to be held Dec. 18-23 at Bishop Verot HS. And as if that is not enough, another six teams ranked in the top 10 of their respective regional rankings will also be in the field. That means 11 of the 16 teams in the field are ranked nationally or regionally. The only Florida team in the top 25 is Olympia HS from Orlando at #17. Olympia will also be part of the COP field! This year's gathering of teams has already been referred to by many as potentially the greatest high school boys tournament field in history. Dunbar HS and Fort Myers HS will also be in the field representing Southwest Florida. Dunbar's first game will be against #1 Duncanville and Fort Myers will open against L.A.
