Charlotte already had a solid group of young talent and bright outlook for the future, but today the future got potentially brighter for Tarpons. Jonathan Ocasio, a 6'5" junior PF who is among the better big men in the class of 2010, transferred to Charlotte High by way of North Port High School. The cupboard is loaded for North Port and it would have been tough for Ocasio to get very many quality touches in the Bobcats offense, which is built around University of South Florida commitment Shaun Noriega. What Jonathan can add to the Tarpons is more size, a potential scoring threat on the front line, a hard worker, and another guy who can hurt the defense from the mid range or the three point line if teams try to overplay stud junior Nick Goshay. Besides Goshay, and now Ocasio, Charlotte will look to class of 2011 standouts DJ Scott and Alex Mut as well as a host of small gritty guards that can hurt you from deep. This may not change the season outlook much for the Tarpons in 2008-09, with all of their best players being juniors or younger, and trying to follow-up two of the best seasons in school history. However, the real effects could show more in 2009-10 when they will have talent, size, and most importantly more experience. Any way you look at it, this move by Ocasio could potentially be a big one for both him and his new squad going forward.
